چکیده
In this study we present a new experimental design using clustering-based redshift inference to measure the evolving galaxy luminosity function (GLF) spanning 5.5 decades from $L \sim 10^{11.5}$ $ 10^6 ~ \mathrm{L}_\odot$. We use data Galaxy And Mass Assembly (GAMA) survey and Kilo-Degree Survey (KiDS). derive distributions in bins of apparent magnitude limits GAMA-KiDS photometric catalogue: $m_r \lesssim 23$; more than decade beyond GAMA spectroscopic sample via inference. This technique uses spatial cross-correlation statistics for reference set with known redshifts (in our case, main sample) distribution target ensemble. For calibration simple parametrisation an adaptive normalisation factor over interval $0.005 < z 0.48$ clustering results. find that GLF has relatively constant power-law slope $\alpha \approx -1.2$ $-17 M_r -13$, then appears steepen sharply $-13 -10$. upturn be where Globular Clusters (GCs) take dominate source counts as luminosity. Thus have mapped across full range $z 0$ field population most luminous galaxies down GC scale.

Galaxy And Mass Assembly (GAMA)
The GAMA survey aims to deliver 250,000 optical spectra (3–7Å resolution) over 250 sq. degrees to spectroscopic limits of rAB < 19.8 and KAB < 17.0 mag. Complementary imaging will be provided by GALEX, VST, UKIRT, VISTA, HERSCHEL and ASKAP to comparable flux levels leading to a definitive multi-wavelength galaxy database. The data will be used to study all aspects of cosmic structures on 1kpc t...
متن کاملThe 2dF Galaxy Redshift Survey: Luminosity dependence of galaxy clustering
We investigate the dependence of the strength of galaxy clustering on intrinsic luminosity using the Anglo-Australian two degree field galaxy redshift survey (2dFGRS). The 2dFGRS is over an order of magnitude larger than previous redshift surveys used to address this issue. We measure the projected two-point correlation function of galaxies in a series of volume-limited samples. The projected c...

Wepresentmeasurements of the color and luminosity dependence of galaxy clustering at z 1 in theDEEP2Galaxy Redshift Survey. Using volume-limited subsamples in bins of both color and luminosity, we find the following: (1) The clustering dependence is much stronger with color than with luminosity and is as strong with color at z 1 as is found locally. We find no dependence of the clustering ampli...
متن کاملThe Deep 2 Galaxy Redshift Survey : the Galaxy Luminosity Function to Z ∼
The evolution of the B-band galaxy luminosity function is measured using a sample of more than 11,000 galaxies with spectroscopic redshifts from the DEEP2 Redshift Survey. The rest-frame MB versus U−B color-magnitude diagram of DEEP2 galaxies shows that the color-magnitude bimodality seen in galaxies locally is still present at redshifts z > 1. Dividing the sample at the trough of this color bi...
متن کاملThe Luminosity Function of Low-redshift Abell Galaxy Clusters
We present the results from a survey of 57 low-redshift Abell galaxy clusters to study the radial dependence of the luminosity function (LF). The dynamical radius of each cluster, r200, was estimated from the photometric measurement of cluster richness, Bgc. The shape of the LFs are found to correlate with radius such that the faint-end slope, α, is generally steeper on the cluster outskirts. T...
